Hoffman Family Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Study of Religion
The Hoffman Family Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Study of Religion has been funded by a generous donation from Douglas Hoffman, a 1975 graduate of our department. The Hoffman Award is available each year to an outstanding graduating senior in the Department of Religion. The Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Religion, in consultation with the Head of the Department, and with advice from all of the faculty in the department, decides each year whether there is a student deserving of this significant honor. On rare occasions the award may be divided between two equally deserving graduating seniors.
Marjorie Hall Thulin Prize for Excellence in the Study of Religion
Two Marjorie Hall Thulin Prizes for Excellence in the Study of Religion will normally be awarded annually, one to an outstanding undergraduate major in Religion (usually a junior) and another to an outstanding Master’s student in Religion.
Marjorie Hall Thulin Scholarships for Study Abroad and for Student Research in Religion
Marjorie Hall Thulin Scholarships for Study Abroad and for Student Research in Religion are available each year to majors in the Department of Religion. The Study Abroad scholarships may be used in support of any University of Illinois Study Abroad Program. Student Research in Religion Scholarships may be used to pay for research travel or other research activities related to the study of religion. To apply for a scholarship for either purpose please submit a one-page letter of application and a copy of your academic transcript to the Director of Undergraduate Studies. Applications are considered throughout the year.
