Biography

My research interests include New Religious Movements, Pagan studies, and Korean shamanism. I am a practicing Korean shaman myself, so most of my research is done through an auto-ethnographic lens, and I focus on digital ethnography. I am also a ritual specialist, with experience both performing rituals and studying them from an academic perspective. I am particularly interested in deconstructing the idea of ritual beyond the sacred/profane dichotomy in order to examine the mundane or "behind the scenes" aspects of ritual preparation as inherently transformative and sacred acts.
